August 26 and 27 saw a gathering of gaming managers in the gorgeous Czech Republic spa town of Franzensbad, for the annual European Golf Championship for Casinos. The weather was perfect, the ambience sublime and the event itself, a unique one in the European casino calendar
Limited to just 100 players and booked up five months in advance, the event is growing in importance as a means to network - and of course to relax - in this busy industry.
The actual golfing event takes place over two days. The entrance fee of 120 Euro covers game costs, a barbecue evening at the splendid Ingo Casino Franzensbad on the first night and a gala buffet and award ceremony on the second evening, in the casino's sumptuous 'Cure Hall'. This casino is an absolute jewel, situated in a sleepy spa town on the Czech-German border and located in what appears to have been a spectacular residence in its distant past. Now though, it is without doubt on of the most beautiful casinos in Europe.
At the end of the first day's play, the barbecue evening was pleasantly relaxed, and after a hard day on the course the delicious food didn't last long. Complimentary beer and soft drinks flowed late into the evening, though some guests preferred to get an early night to be fresh for the second day's play...
At the close of the tournament, two days of enjoyment were capped with the awards ceremony and a gala buffet, and again the beer and soft drinks were free of charge for the weary golfers.
Congratulations go out to the winner of the tournament, Casino San Remo's Enzo Milan, who has a 4.4 handicap, INGO Casino and to Apex Gaming, who organised a really successful event.
Golf facilities were provided by the nearby Golf Club Franti‰kovy Lázn.
