Leading-edge gaming technology developer, ACE Interactive is celebrating the successful public launch of its true server-based gaming (SBG) system in Norway. Its network of Indago interactive Video Terminals (iVTs) powered by TruServ technology, which is being operated by state-owned lottery & gaming organisation Norsk Tipping (NT), went live in the town of Hamar on 27 th August. The switch-on marks the start of a nationwide roll-out of approximately 6,500 iVTs.
The TruServ system offers players the choice of games from three different game creators. "Having games from different suppliers on a Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) platform is simply a necessity in today's VLT world," explained ACE Interactive CEO, Michael Koch. "TruServ accommodates such demand by providing a unique Gaming Development Kit which, already in its fourth incarnation, makes game porting as user-friendly and convenient as it could get."
Commenting on the launch, Koch stated: "This project has enjoyed worldwide attention and obviously we are delighted to announce this go-live. There has been much positive commentary about both our technology and our company, however the proof of our capabilities can only be realised by taking a system of this magnitude live. I am delighted for Norsk Tipping and our ACE team, which has worked so hard and diligently over the last year to reach this milestone."
Tollef Imsdalen, Deputy CEO of Norsk Tipping, added: "The flexibility of the ACE TruServ solution in combination with the attractive and robust design of the Indago iVT allowed us to take a Video Lottery System into operation that completely meets the increased responsible gaming demands of our regulators, whilst at the same time ensuring high quality games from a variety of different game suppliers. The ACE team, in partnership with the Norsk Tipping project team, has done an impressive job implementing this solution on time and target."
A core component of the new TruServ solution is the suite of groundbreaking Responsible Gaming Features, which were positively analysed by responsible gaming expert Mark Griffiths, Professor of Gambling Studies at the UK's Nottingham Trent University. Responsible gaming was a key factor in the development of Norway's newest gaming phenomena. All players must be registered, which is a decisive factor in achieving genuine and effective enforcement of the strict rules applied to the terminals. Players set their own limits on the amount of time and money, which can be more restrictive than the defaults stipulated by NT. If a player wishes to exclude themself from a game, this can be easily achieved. With a possible maximum loss of 400 kroner (€50/$72/£41) per day and 2,200 kroner (€274/$398/£224) per month, the new terminals are subject to the most stringent gaming machine rules applied anywhere in the world.
"This is a world first where we combine new technological solutions and strict rules to create an offer of entertainment that is both exciting and highly entertaining, while at the same time providing the player with a safe and non-habitual gaming behaviour." explained Norsk Tipping CEO, Axel Krogvig.
All profits generated by Norsk Tipping go to Norwegian sports & athletics and cultural causes, as well as humanitarian and socially beneficial organisations.
