Alan Marshall might have become a little disenchanted with pool to the extent he will still promote but does not wish to organise the European Blackball Association's World Masters event in Bridlington next year. But a news item in the Bridlington Free Press was a reminder of Alan's determination to make life happier for those less fortunate than he.
A few years ago he arranged for a few professional pool players to give exhibitions at a local establishment for those with special learning needs. As a result two pool tables were obtained for them and, as the Bridlington Free Press reported, their team represented England during the Welsh Pool Association's recent Festival of Pool and won all of their 10 events.
A picture of the team with its trophies appeared in the paper.
Alan does not like too much said to him about it. He usually replies: "It was nothing. I enjoyed doing it".
