New Intergame amusement exhibition gets support
Published:  03 December, 2008

There will be two amusement machine exhibitions in the Earls Court area of London in January. One will be the annual Amusement Trades International event (ATEI) which needs no introduction to readers of Euroslot and which will be well covered by the magazine. The second is the Intergame IGX Exhibition which is being held during the same two days as the ATEI but in the Ibis Hotel, Earls Court.

Phil Clegg, Editor-in-Chief of Intergame magazines, told Euroslot at the start of November that 31 bookings for stands had been received with a further 17 bookings confirmed although no deposits had been received. Among the 31 were pool table manufacturer Excel Leisure and the Italian football tables, Garlando, for whom Excel are the United Kingdom agents. The remaining 17 included Hazel Grove Music's Superleague and Heywood Pool and Snooker. Euroslot could not contact Simply Pool's Bob Underhill, no doubt because of his company's load of work.

Sam Leisure will again have a stand at the ATEI. Liam Barrett said Sam did not wish to denounce the Intergame Show which would probably be more UK focussed and would probably meet the needs of suppliers and their customers. But Sam needed a position on the interational stage because of its business and because Sam products were selling in about 100 countries across the globe. "That is why we need the ATEI," he said.

He hoped industry problems and the downturn in the economy would not result in disappointing attendances and business at either events although he doubted whether many visitors, especially small operators, would be able to spend quality time at both shows.

Stan McKenna said current problems made it essential for his company to keep working hard to maintain its market share. Fortunately the run-up to Christmas would probably bring increased sales in the retail sector of Garlando football tables and Excel pool tables.

He said the Elvis pool table project was progressing nicely and one would be on show at the Intergame Exhibition. Arrangements are also in hand for the table to have its own dedicated website, something McKenna regards as important for items which will mainly appeal to the retail sales sector.

The latest news from Eric Lewis is that his company's Superleague tables should be available on sale by the end of this month. Like Heywood Pool and Snooker he has not confirmed attendance at the Intergame Show but if both companies show their wares the show should give operators a good choice of quality pool tables at prices to suit their pockets.
