Pool has been going through a fairly quiet period recently although Stan McKenna, managing director of Excel Leisure, was reasonably satisfied with the number of pool tables sold during the last quarter of 2008. But, unless he is keeping something up his sleeve for the InterGame Show, his company will rely upon its top of the range Mayfair table and its beech Regent table to attract buyers. Both are regarded in the trade as top quality tables and, as usual, Excel Leisure will have a wide range of spares on show.
As UK agents for the Italian Garlando football tables Excel will have a number of these on show and will be hoping that sales of these, as well as its pool tables, will make the exhibition worthwhile.
A novelty table making its first really public appearance will be the Elvis table which is being made by Excel for Mike Ansell, of Lordsvale, who has reached agreement with Elvis Presley Enterprises to produce these commemorative tables bearing the name of the legendary singing star. Initially the tables, which will be produced for the home market with an American pool table for the USA, will have no coin entries although those will come later if there is a demand for them. A number of Elvis commemorative pool accessories are also being produced and examples wll be on show on the Excel stand.
