Outsourcing of American jobs has long been a controversial topic in the manufacturing segment of the US job market. Currently, mainland China and Taiwan are both affecting the American amusement industry’s employment and production in the areas of low-cost exports, legal parts and illegal counterfeits.
Some experts predict that almost one-third of all cranes sold in the US could be built in China in the future. Another category for increased sales may be coinoperated pool tables, since cue sticks and other items are already widespread. In other international news affecting American firms, Valley-Dynamo, of Richland Hills, Texas, announced in early September that it plans to move its manufacturing operations to Reynosa, Mexico, over the next several months. Although the move will lead to a loss of 90 manufacturing jobs, Valley-Dynamo will retain part of its American operation in Texas by moving its executive, administrative, sales and distribution personnel to a new facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
