The online poker market continues to grow. In January receipts amounted to about €139.4 million, a rise of 44.9% over the €96.2 million collected in December. Gioco Digitale remains the sector leader: €55 million having been played on its website (+19% on the figure for the last month of 2008), with a market share of 39.4%.
Growth has been significant for the other operators too. Sites owned by Microgame confirm their second place thanks to receipts of about €35 million (a growth of 29.6% on December's figure). Lottomatica (Better e Totosi') is among the winners, raising its receipts from €15 million to €23 million (+53.3%).
A positive report as well for Bwin, rising from €6 million in December to €11 million last month, being the biggest percentage rise in the sector (+83.3%). A more than encouraging debut for the sites operating on the Playtech platform (Cogetech, Eurobet, Sisal e Snai, which only started 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operations in money mode on 6 January) with receipts of €12.4 million, equivalent to 8.89% of the market, while Leonardo Service has risen from €2 to €3 million (+50%)
