Gamestec, a leading player in the UK gaming and amusement machines sector, has donated two pool tables to a community group for adults with learning difficulties in Salford.
The Redwood Group has been running for 22 years and is a unique project within the Probation Service. It is run by the Greater Manchester Probation Service and is supported by the Adults with Learning Difficulties Safeguarding Department, Social Services. The scheme was in desperate need of replacement pool tables as their existing facilities were falling apart.
The new baize will allow the group to keep their regular and popular pool competitions going as one of several group activities which include dancing, arts, craft and bingo.
Stefan Podonlanski, product manager at Gamestec, said: "We were contacted by Community Payback team to see whether we could help out. The group is self funding so it didn't have any budget to purchase new tables and I felt we had to get involved and help.
"This seemed to be a request where we could make a real impact to improve the quality of the facilities available and affect the lives of the beneficiaries of the group."
Ken Gee, Community Payback Project Manager, said the donation made a real difference:"Yes, were all delighted. We can't keep them away from the tables and some of the beneficiaries of the group just don't want to go home once they love the new tables so much."
