Tomy buys gift division
Published:  09 March, 2009

Tomy Europe, the leading toy and nursery manufacturer, has acquired Tomy Yujin Europe, the international vending and gift company, from Yujin Japan. The deal means the two companies can take advantage of shared operating costs and distribution channels. Tomy Yujin will change its name to Gacha International and become a branch of Tomy Europe with Tim Goldsworthy taking the role as General Manager. Gacha International will continue to trade and operate as normal, but share Tomy Europe's finance and operations facilities.

The new Gacha International division will concentrate on expanding both the vending and gift offerings across new territories including Canada and South America. Robert Mann, CEO, Tomy Europe, commented, "We are delighted to have acquired Tomy Yujin Europe. Tomy Europe will provide the ideal platform to extend the distribution channels for the increasing ranges of licensed gift items, uniting the Gacha brand with the heritage and pedigree of the globally identifiable Tomy brand."

Tim Goldsworthy, General Manager, Gacha International, commented: "Tomy Yujin has experienced consistent growth over the last 10 years concentrating on the European vending market and more recently expanding into Gift and Impulse sectors. The growth experienced in 2008 is predicted to continue at an increasing rate over the next few years with a wider variety of licenses. This will hopefully satisfy both retailer and consumer demand for lower priced, high quality toys in an ever competitive market place."
