September heralds the beginning of the show season and the return to the hectic travel schedule that so many within our industry are familiar with. I noted with interest just how many press releases Euroslot received this month about those who have moved to different jobs over the holiday period.
By all accounts it has been a particularly tough summer, especially for those whose business is largely based in the UK. But the number of new recruits in the past few months show that the industry has not been lying stagnant – instead strategies have been put in place and key people have been recruited.
In some cases diversification has been the name of the game. Sega Amusements Europe is honing its R&D team and developing its spares business, while Namco has just announced the acquisition of a string of high-end bowling venues.
Here at the magazine, we have also been working hard to develop a more relevant and useful product for our readers. The entire publication is now available in a digital format (as well as print) complete with advertisements which will lead readers directly to product websites.
This month, we are also offering an interactive calendar, which provides market information, game statistics and details of all the shows.
It is almost a year since I took over as editor of Euroslot magazine and I remember attending the September and October shows with a new badge and a new team of collleagues. I look forward to congratulating those who have moved on to pastures new and to meeting those who have joined the industry for the first time. In addition, I am keen to see the new product that has been developed over the past few months and which will be unveiled at the shows.
