Sound Leisure has been picked as an example to other manufacturers in Yorkshire under a new Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) scheme.
The programme is called Inside Industry and has been launched by the Yorkshire and Humber Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) to help businesses develop their operations by sharing and learning from the most successful manufacturers across the region.
MAS is a DTI initiative, funded by Yorkshire Forward and managed by YFM Business Development, aimed at providing ‘hands on’ advice and support to manufacturing businesses.
Sound Leisure has been picked as an exemplar company due to its record of innovation and its global export experience. The Leeds-based jukebox manufacturer actually hosted the official launch of the Inside Industry scheme.
Speaking at the event, Simon Hill, executive director of business development at Yorkshire Forward, said: “Perhaps the most important and effective way in which businesses can learn new skills is from each other. Through involvement with Inside Industry, companies can share best practice and help to raise each other's game so that the region as a whole benefits from increased competitiveness and economic growth.”
Sound Leisure Managing Director Chris Black (pictured) said: “We are delighted that the Yorkshire and Humber Manufacturing Advisory Service has recognised Sound Leisure and its employees as an exemplar company. It is great recognition for the hard work and development that we all consistently put into the business. The Inside Industry scheme will hopefully benefit smaller manufacturers in our region striving to offer better services and products.”
