Namco Europe Limited, through its subsidiary Namco Operations Europe Limited, has increased its presence in the UK location and entertainment business sector with the purchase of the Number 10 bowling group for an undisclosed sum.
Founded by entrepreneur Peter Williams in the late 1990s, Number 10 comprises sites in Ipswich, Norwich, Braintree and Romford. The acquisition raises the number of locations operated by Namco Operations Europe Limited in the UK and Spain to 16, including the premium multi-leisure centres in County Hall, London and the Trafford Centre, Manchester.
A statement issued by Namco Europe confirmed: “This is a key strategic purchase that not only complements our market position as an operator of premium leisure and entertainment venues, but also provides a platform for rapid growth in the sector through the acquisition of existing bowls.
The Number 10 Group represents the modern face of bowling. It has demonstrated how, through a combination of contemporary design and imaginative marketing, it’s possible to attract a valuable new demographic to the business. Our planned investment programme will help take the Number 10 Group to the next level in its already-impressive growth and development.”
Namco Operations Europe Limited is a subsidiary of Namco Europe Limited, which is directly held by Namco Bandai Holdings Inc. (NBH) Tokyo. NBH is a public Japanese company listed on the first level of the Tokyo stock exchange with annual sales of ¥450bn in 2006.
Namco and Bandai merged in 2005 and the company’s worldwide business interests include toys and hobbies, amusement facilities, game contents, network, visual and music content, and other related activities.
