On October 30, decree 106/2006 - by which the plan was approved for type B amusement machines in the Autonomous Region of Cantabria - was published in the official bulletin of the Cantabrian regional government.
It stipulated that, with effect from October 30 until October 30, 2009, no new licences will be granted for the operation of type B amusement machines, unless it is to replace an old machine by another of the same type, without which there would otherwise be a definitive loss of business. The decree aims to bring into line excessive growth in the number of type B licences and its social and economic repercussions, limiting operation and restraining the negative consequences of this growth. Cantabria is attempting to follow the line taken by other autonomous governments in Spain: namely Asturias, the Basque Country, Castile-León, Galicia, Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia, the Canary Islands and Balearics.
