Two German companies, Neox Technologies and Peaches, from Bingen am Rhein and Wiesbaden respectively, made a first appearance at the Preview show this year.
Ole Rom from Neox has taken on the German distribution for Austrian company Webak, as well as distributing NSM jukebox products into the country. He was showing a Webak multiplayer slot machine at Preview on the NSM stand, which had eight games and had already performed well in Eastern European markets. “The difference with this product is that the software is wholly owned,” said Rom. “This means that we are very flexible in adapting the games to specific markets and legislations.”
Rom is also involved in the business of Peaches – which is a warranty-extension company, previously involved in the information technology sector and now looking to revolutionise the coin-op industry. Peaches has already signed contracts with distribution and operating companies in Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark and the Netherlands and is looking for strategic partners in the UK. “We work out the warranty extensions based on the serial numbers,” said Matthias Mathieu, managing partner of Peaches. “Then, if a distributor sells the machines on, we can match the serial number directly with the operator. We sell in two ways – either to the operator directly or through the distributor. We can extend warranties for all kinds of machines. This practice has been going on in other industries for years and we can see no reason why it won’t be a great success in the gaming and amusement sectors,” he added.
