NSM Music Group and Sound Leisure have announced they have settled their differences in connection with key digital download and network management patents.
NSM and Sound Leisure have entered into an agreement providing Sound Leisure rights to certain key, patented technology, allowing for the download of music to jukeboxes and remote management of multimedia networks, such as digital jukes. Additionally, NSM and Sound Leisure have agreed to pursue joint policing of the key patents across Europe, and take steps to ensure infringement by third parties is eradicated.
“Our aim is to maximize the value of our patents and ensure that infringers who create copycat and inferior jukeboxes are eradicated. We recognise the investment companies like Sound Leisure have put into developing its products. Our agreement and revitalised relationship with Sound Leisure allows us to ensure that the market is well serviced by established jukebox makers,” commented NSM CEO Dr Gurbakhash Sanghera.
“Our agreement reinforces the value of our key patents and strengthens our position in the market as an innovator of new technology, and manufacturer of high-quality yet affordable digital jukeboxes. We look forward to working with Sound Leisure on developing a pan-European enforcement strategy,” he added.
“We are very pleased to have resolved this situation with NSM Music and be able to concentrate on bringing high-quality digital jukebox products to the market,” said Sound Leisure CEO Alan Black. “NSM and Sound Leisure are in total agreement that these key patents need to be enforced in order to avoid a proliferation of inferior products, which have not been built to the same standards.”
