“For the first time, clients get an online update without even having to change the dongle,” said Funworld’s Marco Huter.

System 2007 boasts 10 new games. Top players, such as Twins World Champion 2006, Maro Aristidou, were invited to Schörfling, Upper Austria, for an endurance test of the new System.

“I especially like the fact that the game has several levels and that numbers turn up and move across the screen, only to disappear again. It makes one think fast and act quickly, otherwise suitable numbers are no longer available,” Aristidou explained. She is also certain that the new game Imperator will be a hit.

“Everyone knows the principle of scissors, paper, stone, so there is no need for long training. The game prevails with its graphics and it is fun,” she added. But Aristidou – the 19-year-old world champion – claimed her personal favourite game was Signs. She enjoyed the speed and challenge of finding combinations of three.

Another innovation in the System 2007 is the use of live videos in Multiplayer mode. A player is filmed by the USB wide-angle camera, which is integrated in the PRO terminal. Thus the co-player can see live who is currently being challenged, or against whom he/she is playing.

To ensure that the camera gets optimal pictures, a player’s face is recognised, illuminated and centred. This procedure is made possible by an algorithm that was developed by the Austrian Fraunhofer Institute. “With this application, Photo Play proves to the last doubters that real players can meet in Multiplayer,” said Huter. “Multiplayer is our strongest online feature,“ he added. “The new ranking list provides our players with international competition, challenge and honour, even in multiplayer mode.”

In the set-up section, operators have the option of arranging a Multiplayer Happy Hour, a striking and efficient way of attracting new players in one’s outlet. In addition, whenever a terminal is not being played, the screen-filling demo mode shows pictures of top-ranking players and all promotions are advertised automatically. New games can be found in current net.games and “special offer” games by entering the Hot Games button.

The Play Again window reduces loading times to zero. It is possible to re-enter a game immediately after having completed one, and every tenth game in a row is free. The Friends’ List in My Photo Play is also entirely new.

The online status of all listed players is obvious at a glance, so they can be directly challenged. Further, in an extension of the sports idea, it is now also possible to set up a tournament on all terminals that are not linked within the net.
