Two illegal gambling video game operators located in the County and City of Taipei bribed their district police stations with NT$500,000 each month. When the most recent bribery payments were delivered, people involved were arrested on the spot by the prosecution authority.
According to prosecution authority’s understanding, the involved police officers have taken a NT$5 million-plus bribery. Director-General of National Police Agency of Taiwan, Hou You-yi, has asked the inspection system to handle the case. He emphasized that those police officers involved will be severely punished without leniency and joint responsibility will also be addressed.According to the prosecution’s investigation, Kao and Yeh, shareholders of Feilong Game Center located in Bali Ferry, operated video game gambling in Xinchuang of Taipei County in the past and were arrested by the prosecution for police bribery. And half a year after that, they made a comeback and set up Feilong and Garfield Game Centers in the areas of Bali Ferry, Taipei County, and Ximenting, Taipei City, respectively. These two game centers have got licenses but secretly operated gambling games. To avoid police crackdown, they paid NT$500,000 monthly to bribe district police officers through the introduction of Huang Xin-zhong, a police officer at Nanshi Police Station, Zhongho Township of Taipei County.
