Merkur Casino and the Bulgarian enterprise Casino Technology (Sofia) have signed a co-operation contract.
“With this joint venture, we have laid down a significant cornerstone for healthy growth under Merkur Casino Sonne in one of the most recent candidate-member countries for entry to the European Union,” said Rolf Klug, member of the board at Merkur and Spielothek International, of the Gauselmann AG group. The first two electronic casinos under the label Palms Merkur Casino are under construction. It is expected that they will open before the end of this year. Casino Technology and Merkur Casino will appear and act together as equal partners in the management of the new sites. “Bulgaria will presumably become a member of the EU on January 1, 2007,” said Rolf Falke, Managing Director of Merkur Casino. Against this background, the ground-breaking nature of the partnership becomes evident.
