Unicum Group and SmartGames, two major Russian gaming suppliers, last month announced they have signed an agreement to merge, in a significant move to consolidate their strengths in gaming manufacturing in the domestic and international markets. The transaction was approved by the board of directors in March.
The new company Unicum Gaming will spread its activities across traditional and new markets, reinforcing a position of a major gaming manufacturer and promoting its own and partners’ products in Russia and the CIS countries. The new deal demonstrates Unicum's and SmartGames’ ongoing commitment to provide customers a unique range of gaming products and solutions for slot operations of any size from a single vendor. Unicum Gaming’s arsenal includes well-known brands Unicum and SmartGames, supported by a variety of products from the world’s leading manufacturers, such as Atronic International, WMS Gaming, Bally Gaming, Konami, Aristocrat, AGT and AGI. Together with strong partner and distribution agreements the new company inherited a solid nework of service centres and representative offices in Russia and the CIS. In the international markets Unicum Gaming will promote Unicum’s popular slot machines, Onyx, Sensation and Adventures, with a portfolio of more than 70 games and seven cabinets and SmartGames’ slots. A list of overseas regions to which the new company plans to supply its products is topped by South America and Africa, where Unicum and SmartGames have been shipping its machines since 2006. The new company is headed by Boris Belotserkovsky, Unicum’s President. The CEO position is taken by Valery Klesov, Chief Executive Officer of SmartGames. Peter Moffitt, vice president of gaming and chief technology officer of Unicum, will continue serving as the head of Unicum Gaming’s research and product development. Sales and marketing will be lead by Lyubov Loginova.
