The Association, which represents manufacturers, distributors and owners of gaming and amusement equipment, was founded in 1990 and is a member of EUROMAT - the European Gaming & Amusement Federation. IGAA sponsors Ireland's Coin-Op Expo - AmEx - the Irish Gaming & Amusement Exhibition, held in Dublin at the beginning of March each year, at which the annual Mary Openshaw Memorial Award For Excellence is presented. IGAA officers are Jim McCann (President), Alan Muir (Treasurer) and Martin Dempsey (Secretary). Members of the association held a series of meetings with representatives from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform during AmEx 2007. It is expected that a report from the Department's Casino Committee will be presented to Government in the near future. It is hoped that this will result in a decision to introduce long awaited legislation relating to gaming, casinos and other related sectors. IGAA representatives will attend the AGM of EUROMAT in Vienna in May. EUROMAT was established in 1979 to represent the European gaming and amusement industry at EU level and consists of member associations from 14 European countries.
