Merit Entertainment
Megatouch ION & Force 2007.5 software upgrade
Published:  12 June, 2007

Touchscreen specialist Merit Entertainment has announced the release of its Megatouch ION and Force 2007.5 software. This upgrade, free for systems currently running 2007 software, includes Merit’s new card game Outlaw Poker, and a related symbol version, Cattle Drive. In addition to these games, Merit has added a tournament version to Luxor, its number one ranked Megatouch game.

Texas Hold’em 4 now features an updated scoring system, which ensures better players earn better scores. New and enhanced content has been added to refresh the ever-popular trivia and photo games. For connected machines, there will be three additional games arriving in upcoming months. If those machines are connected via broadband, the entire software update can be downloaded and installed without even requiring a visit to the location. There are also several “under the hood” improvements. Operators asked Merit for a new card game, and Merit has complied. Outlaw Poker is a Wild-West themed card game where the player attempts to make every possible winning hand, from one pair to five of a kind, in a three-minute time limit. In addition to one-player mode, the game can also be played as a Mega-Link game, where the race is on to see who can complete all the hands first. Based on the historic performance of other poker games on the Megatouch, and the fact that it’s targeted towards a variety of hardcore Megatouch fans, Outlaw Poker will likely be a top-ranked game. MegaNet operators will find a host of additional features in the new 2007.5 release. Photo-Pop is the first of Merit’s new set of Advance Downloadable Games, which is only available through MegaNet. The player's objective is to locate three small image fragments, shown one at a time, within each photograph. Like PhotoHunt, Photo-Pop is expected to appeal to not only the single-player but to groups as well. Two more games will arrive on MegaNet-connected systems after Photo-Pop, with a new one arriving each month. This will keep the system fresh with a steady stream of new games while helping to keep the cashbox full. Broadband-connected MegaNet games will have the ability to auto-download 2007.5 software simply by the operator clicking a box on the MegaNet site. Additionally, new broadband diagnostics help Merit’s technical support staff troubleshoot any problems that may arise. Considering MegaNet membership is free for all AMI-connected broadband systems, operators are encouraged to take advantage of all these new capabilities. MegaNet will also continue to provide regularly updated new images for Penthouse. For operators updating from 2006.5 or older software, the paid Megatouch ION 2007.5 upgrade includes a brand new pre-installed Quick-Click hard drive for one-minute software updates, extending the drive warranty by an additional two and half years (30 months). Merit also includes a free Force hard drive when five Force kits are purchased together. Other new features include a number of speed enhancements for AMI jukebox linking, and updated support for TouchTunes jukeboxes. This release also expands on the Megatouch’s extensive international support, with new languages, including over 50 games now available for the first time in Chinese.
