New summer Spanish appointments
Published:  26 August, 2007

The Spanish Association for Internet Betting – AEDAPI (Apostadores Deportivos por Internet), only recently formed in Spain, has appointed Laura Guillot as the Association’s new Head of Communications. Guillot, aged 46 years, has a law degree from the University of Barcelona and has a master’s degree in International commerce and law and another in information technology and communication.

Prior to taking up this position Guillot was a director of the Europer Association and the Technical General Secretary of the AEMAR Association. With fourteen years of accumulated experience in the gaming sector, over recent years she has taken on the role of expert consultant in subjects related to the media and entertainment industry, at present being the Director of DC Assessors. The AEDAPI has 13 partners including Betfair.com, Unibet and Globet. Also, at its Assembly in Madrid on 26th June, ANESAR – (Asociación de Empresarios de Salones), the Association of Amusement Arcade Businesses, saw new appointments to its Board. After the elections, Rafael Martínez was confirmed as President of the association with a mandate for four years, taking over from Jaime Sanahuja, who now continues in the role of vice-president. In other news, Jaime Riera and Joseph Carreras, until now manager and technical director of MGA, the company chaired by Jaime Sanahuja, have left the company to start their own project which we shall soon learn more about. Artur Porter, who held the position of director of logistics at MGA, has assumed the role of manager. José Luis Monleón, founder and proprietor of LAIV Expemocar, has left the Board of LAIV to devote himself fully to politics. The company is now being run by his son Ivan Monleón. Lastly, we are sad to report the death occurred in July in Girona of Ramon Vilaró Sandiumenge at the age of 86 years. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Codere Girona for many years, Vilaró was one of the pioneers in the automation sector, and a dedicated professional for more than 40 years. He was always a crucial figure in the amusement sector in Spain and of course, in the geographic region of Catalonia where he was President of the Andemar Association. A businessman by nature, Ramon Vilaró started his business in a bar in Girona where he introduced billiards and other products.

Having retired from business activities some years ago, Ramon Vilaró received special recognition as the oldest businessman in the amusement sector at the Second Award Ceremony organized by EUROPER in 2005. The Codere Girona company is now headed by his son, Ramon Vilaró Massaguer.
