Officials from the AAMA, AMOA and IALEI have signed off on the final paperwork that will move Fun Expo’s dates in 2009 and 2010. The exhibition will now co-locate with the AAMA’s Amusement Showcase International in the spring of 2009.
The ceremonial signing took place before a group of distributors and suppliers at this past summer’s Annual Distributor Gala in suburban Chicago. Fun Expo will continue to be staged with AMOA this month and again in 2008. The idea to change the dates came from the plans to stage the IAAPA parks show in Las Vegas later that same year. Show planners thought that the proximity of both time and location for two shows with similar exhibitors and customers would be a detriment to both shows. The IALEI already owns half of the Fun Expo, geared to the Family Entertainment Center (FEC) operators. AAMA and AMOA own equal shares of the remaining 50 per cent.
