Taipei City Mayor Ma Ying Jiu convened the Department of Economic Development, the Taipei Business Administration Office, the Department of Education and the Government Information Office on October 2 to discuss the subject of reopening the gaming machines in Taipei.
At the previous conference, the Taipei Business Administration Office announced the draft of the Taipei City Autonomous Regulation of the Management of Ordinary Game Machines. The authorities have first decided to allow only non-gambling edutainment games, and these can only be placed in department stores and big retail outlets. Officials at the Department of Economic Development stated that the draft has been delayed for too long, therefore they hope it can soon be verified and approved, and then send to the parliament.
