“Snooker and American pool in particular are becoming increasingly popular in Germany and attract considerable television coverage by Eurosport,” reported Milliken European sales manager Stuart Gardiner. “The DBU plays a strategically important role in developing both games in Germany, while organising its major tournaments and national championships. A contract to become the official cloth supplier to the DBU will start later in 2008 and will be marked by the launch of a new version of SuperPro pool cloth specifically for the DBU and the German pool market,” said Gardiner. This brings with it an initial prospect of covering around 6000 tables in clubs affiliated to the DBU alone. Agreement was reached between the two parties following a visit to Milliken’s manufacturing plant in the UK by officials from the DBU.
