In 2008 Ireland’s Coin-Op Expo celebrates its 29th birthday, when it will be held on March 4-5. Over the years it has had a number of name changes, from Coin-Op to AmusExpo to AmEx, with the 2008 event being titled Coin-Op Expo - AmEx 2008! There have also been a number of venue changes from Leopardstown Exhibition Centre to the Burlington Hotel and finally to the Green Isle Hotel.
Even this involved a number of changes - as the hotel itself changed its name from Doyle Green Isle to Jury’s Green Isle to the current Lynch Green Isle. One of the world’s smallest gaming and amusement trade shows is organised by Martin Dempsey, a thirty year veteran of the coin-op industry, who is editor of the Irish based European trade publication Coin-Op News. He is also secretary of IGAA - Irish Gaming & Amusement Association (formerly IAEA - the Irish Amusement Equipment Association), which is a member of EUROMAT - the European Gaming & Amusement Federation. AmEx boasts a programme of seminars, meetings, business presentations and social gatherings, continuing the show’s reputation for bringing together Irish and international manufacturers, distributors and operators in a businesslike atmosphere. AmEx is organised by MD Associates and supported by IGAA - Irish Gaming & Amusement Association (Member Of Euromat).
