Danoptra Holdings Ltd, a leading player in the UK gaming and amusement machines sector and parent company of Gamestec Leisure Limited and Bell-Fruit Group, has announced the appointment of Nick Hawkins as Director of Legal Services.
The newly created role will see Mr. Hawkins assume responsibility for all legal and regulatory matters, ensuring that Danoptra and its associated companies are fully compliant with gaming legislation and effectively meet all statutory requirements.
Hawkins has nearly thirty years experience of regulatory and compliance law enforcement issues, with a particular specialism in Gambling Law and Policy. He joins Danoptra from leading City law firm, Halliwells, where he was Head of Gambling Law.
Prior to this he was with two other international law firms, one of which was Harris Hagan, specialist City Gambling and Leisure Law practice. From 1992 until April 2005 Mr. Hawkins was a Member of Parliament, holding a number of key roles in Government and Opposition including Shadow Home Office Minister, Shadow Solicitor-General and twice as Shadow Gambling Minister in 2000-1 and 2003-4. In this new role, Mr Hawkins’ skills as a senior barrister with up-to-date knowledge of compliance, corporate governance and regulatory issues will provide Danoptra with an in-house legal expert capable of working with the organisation and its divisions to ensure ongoing compliance as well having as the ability to identify commercial opportunities for the company in the face of legislative change.
