New bowling trade show
Published:  01 February, 2008

Next March there will finally be a great European trade show dedicated to bowling: a sector with a total of approximately 4,000 centres and over 40,000 bowlers – the myriad of ‘weekend bowlers’ who also fill the venues – and a turnover with truly impressive figures in every European country.

B.E.R. (Bowling Event Rimini)is the name of the brand new expo, being held from March 13th to 16th, 2008 in hall A1 at Rimini Fiera, one of the most modern comprehensively equipped expo centres in Europe. It is being organized by Rimini Fiera SpA (one of Europe’s leading trade fair companies) and Facto Edizioni, a publisher that has traded on the market for over 20 years and is specialized in the leisure sector (including bowling), plus the support of the FISB (Italian Bowling Federation) and the EBPA (European Bowling Proprietors Association). On show will be lanes, machines for cleaning and conditioning them, scoring systems, pinsetters, masking units, signs and overheads, spare parts, seating, bowls and pins... in short, every kind of equipment for bowling. But also services for setting up, fitting out and renovating centres (from design to financing), all kinds of accessories for bowlers, as well as complementary products, such as merchandising, vending machines, mini bowling lanes, etc. The companies that have already formally confirmed their participation in the expo include the bowling industry’s big names, such as Qubica-AMF, Steltronic, Switch Entertainment, Si-Line (Italy’s Brunswick distributor) and Vebo. Alongside these leaders, there will also be companies that may be less known internationally, but are very pro-active from the point of view of products and services. “It’s also important to emphasize that B.E.R. will be held simultaneously with the 20th edition of ENADA Spring,” said Gabriella Zoni, Rimini Fiera project manager for both expos, stressed. “ENADA Spring is one of Europe’s leading trade shows in the coin-op amusement sector (attended in 2007 by 23,197 visitors, of whom approximately 2,500 were from abroad). The two shows will be independent, but we’re certain that the fact that they are being held at the same venue and on the same dates will lead to networking and cooperation that will be profitable for both exhibitors and visitors.” In fact, there’s no doubt that amusement, ENADA’s reference sector, and bowling have come increasingly close over recent years: on one hand, bowling is lowering its profile as a purely competitive sport, changing increasingly into a recreational activity for pure leisure, which is the reason many traditional bowling centres now need to upgrade and extend what they offer clients, finding ideas that complement strictly competitive activity. On the other, many recreational venues, not originally opened as bowling centres, over recent years have discovered the business opportunities offered by this sports activity and therefore need to make contacts and be informed. Danilo Tosetto, manager of Facto Edizioni continued, “The profile of typical B.E.R. visitors is therefore varied. First and foremost, there are obviously bowling centre owners and managers and the bowlers themselves. But that’snot all. I’d say that all those who have already made bowling their business, or intend doing so, should come to Rimini. There they’ll find a complete showcase and plenty of input for establishing or improving their professionalism.”
