Spain has launched "operation arcade". An increasingly frequent number of assaults and crimes are being committed against the amusement arcades in Spain. In Andalucia alone there have been thirty such crimes since January.
That is why the Spanish police forces have recognised the growing concerns that the owners of the amusement and gaming arcades have about the safety of their employees and the customers in their establishments, and as a result of several meetings with representatives from the sector they have pledged to coordinate and join forces to find solutions. "Operation Arcade" is an attempt to understand the existing problem and thus provide the means of preventing such crimes wherever possible, and contains in its objective "all crimes committed against gaming arcades, their owners and the employees in the normal exercise of their duties there". In this regard a Monitoring Committee has been created, to periodically review the results of the Operation and correct any possible errors that might be found in collecting the information. This Committee consists of representatives of the Department for the Control of Games of Chance, the Central Criminal Intelligence Unit, and major associations within the sector, established nationally or regionally.
