Taipei County Commissioner Chou Shi-wei recently led a delegation of governmental officers to the US. After returning to Taiwan, Commissioner Chou revealed that American companies showed great interest in investing in Taipei County and if foreign companies actually come, Taipei County will build more than 20 international hotels as well as a theme park, indoor exhibition center, showrooms, schools, and parks. Chou intends to turn the "Crown Coast" of Taipei County into the best vacation site for Chinese tourists.
Commissioner Chou and the delegation visited Las Vegas on June 22nd, and made a presentation on the third-generation Integrated Family Resort planned by Taipei County to Las Vegas-based Wynn, MGM, Venetian, and Archon. These American Groups expressed strong interest in the development of Taipei County and even hoped that Taipei County can become the Las Vegas of Asia by taking advantage of the county's convenient geographic location.
Chou explained that besides establishing a gaming district, the experiences of the US city of Las Vegas can also be used for developing an integrated family resort district. The gaming area will only account for 35% of the total revenue and revenue from other leisure, hotel, and entertainment developments will make up 65%.
