During the time when Orange had difficulties with its dial-up internet and e-mail connections my computer, unknown to me until early August, received a message that my good friend John Etchells had been made redundant by his employers, Riley Operators Division.
John began his career in the industry in1975 with Michael Green's Alca and among other companies he worked for were Hazel Grove Music, Rileys and Heywood Pool and Snooker. I asked him when he started with the Riley Operators Division who was his favourite employer. Without any hesitation he replied: "Michael Green because he was always encouraging you."
A cheerful soul, I hope if John wants to do so he manages to find a new position if he has not already done so. He's a very good salesman in my opinion.
