GeneraL Touch was established in 1996 and is globally Focused (China, USA, Europe, Taiwan, Korea, Japan & Australia). The company has two manufacturing facilities in Chengdu, China and Suzhou, China. The company employs 600 skilled staff and has enjoyed very fast growth of around 60 per cent annually.
General Touch manufactures more than one million units a year and is vertically integrated (Glass cutting, tempering, Anti-glare, custom). It is a full service provider (R&D, manufacturing, marketing, sales, technical support). But above all, the company is customer focused.
General Touch manufactures a wide range of touchscreen and monitor products, specifically including touchscreen, open frame & desktop LCD touchmonitors, and digital signage solutions.
The company can split its market share thus:
Amusement: 20% Gaming: 35%; and the rest into other applications, principally banking, kiosks, retail, POS, and self-service.
Major manufacturers who use General Touch's products include TouchTunes, FB Metronia, Olivetti, and Atronic. There are approximately 500,000 games using touchscreens operating globally within the amusement sector and approximately 1,000,000 games using touchscreens operating globally within the gambling sector.
The typical specifications for touchscreens in the amusement/gaming sectors currently in terms of screen size are mainly 19" 4:3, and 20.1 & 22" widescreen.
Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) touchscreen has been the most competitive technology to rival surface capacitive touchscreen. Its cost is more reasonable. The performance of SAW touchscreen is more suitable for gaming and amusement than capacitive, in our opinion. In the next five years General Touch expects SAW will lead the market over capacitive touchscreen.
Over the years, the unit cost have been reduced as more and more touchscreen manufacturers are coming into this industry. Besides, more manfacturers are expanding their production capacity.
