As reported by Minister Tremonti in Parliament for the period January to March 2008, the "Monopolies" have recorded an overall increase of €63 million entirely due to the sales tax, while for public gaming a reduction of €605 million has been recorded, due to a fall in tax revenues of €526 million from Lotto and Superenalotto, and a drop of €79 million from all the other games.

    A Fair Play for Sports Betting campaign has been launched by Stanleybet International. This campaign requests the European Commission to properly enforce the principle of free movement of goods and services in accordance with EU law, by referring non-compliant states to the European Court of Justice.
