The manufacturers of play consoles are expecting a record year too, according to BITKOM, the German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media.
In 2006, it is expected that more than three million units will be sold in Germany. And sales are expected to rise by around 27 percent to 472 million euro, according to the industry association. “These are historical peak values, the market is hotting up,” said Manfred Gerdes, member of the BITKOM committee. “With large investments in the development of new equipment the manufacturers have laid the foundation-stone for a successful year.” According to BITKOM, hiding behind the latest generation of games consoles there is often very high performance Multimedia equipment.
