The second edition of ProGameShow, the event dedicated to Italian and international gaming and gambling, ended last month with the presentation of awards to the best participants in the entertainment-machines sector.
The event formally signalled the end of three days of activities dedicated entirely to the latest products, issues and themes that revolve around gaming – one of the more controversial sectors of the Italian economic scene.
Design, innovation and customer care are all aspects that the event organisers, Fair Play, wanted to highlight and reward with prizes, during a ceremony also attended by the well-known media and sports personality Prisca Taruffi.
The Fair Play award for design was won by Eurostar, a prominent company operating in the gaming-machine production sector. This year, the Bologna firm introduced a new model of NewSlot, an AWP technically defined as Comma 6, in addition to its long list of successful products.
Collecting the prize on behalf of everyone at Eurostar, Dino Cavalieri did not hide his satisfaction for the award – particularly bearing in mind the possibility of exporting to international markets, which are by their nature more demanding and selective.
The sought-after award for customer care went to GMatica, a network concessionaire for operating gaming machines, in recognition of its strong commitment to supplying services of the highest quality while paying due attention to customer requirements.
Alessandro Galasso, GMatica’s commercial manager, made reference to the operators taking advantage of the company’s connection network. He noted that GMatica was founded and has been making its decisions on the basis of respect for the operator and the achievement of synergies in which the customer holds centre stage. Galasso did not add that this award, more than any other, should ideally be distributed to team members, working to provide a service in line with customer expectations.
The judges’ panel awarded the prize for innovation to Professional Games, for its multi-position device similar to a roulette. Public-relations manager Tiziano Lanzano – who represents the second generation of one of the best-known families in the Italian AWP sector – said the award was received with great satisfaction by the company, which aimed for a product that makes a complete break with tradition, trying to marry entertainment with the attractions of a gambling casino.
Lanzano explained that the project required careful assessment and had been made possible by the Italian State Monopolies Authority, which had been willing to support a product that fully complies with the statutory gaming regulations, but representing the first example of a Comma 6 multi-position machine.
The ProGameShow awards ceremony was also attended by Elidio De Paoli, undersecretary of state in the Ministry of Youth and Sport, who told the assembled AWP managers and delegates: “The government is close to the entrepreneurs in this sector. Please have the courage to ask and even demand the attention of the government and of the political world.
“I regret that this event coincided with the Italian government’s mission to China, with the participation of 600 delegates including high-level government officials. My presence here today at this award ceremony bears witness to the fact that the Italian government is close to you, as it is to all entrepreneurs in the country,” he added.
