When hit by waves of the financial crisis, cutting expenditure has become a major matter for all trade events. Recently, Korea's largest game trade event, G-Star, has also considered changing venue to cut costs.
Daegu and Busan have become the candidate cities for holding the show. These two cities expressed great enthusiasm for hosting G-Star. The Korean Association of Game Industry is in the process of conducting field surveys.
In February, an official from the Korea Game Industry Agency revealed that the possible locations for G-Star 2009 include Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daegu and Busan. The Korea Association of Game Industry, which is composed of major Korean game companies, has surveyed the cities of Daegu and Busan and confirmed the feasibility.
Currently Daegu and Busan have geared up for hosting G-Star 2009. Daegu and Busan plan to make the show a festive event of the cities in order to compete with Seoul and Gyeonggi. Daegu and Busan have carved out related supportive and promotional activities and made budget planning. If G-Star 2009 does take place in these two cities, it is very likely to successfully cut down costs for show exhibitors.
