Britain experienced a ‘bingo revival' last month with queues forming outside clubs up and down the country.
Thanks to Gala Bingo providing a unique opportunity for the nation to play for free, more Britons than ever are grabbing their dabbers to take part in the Great British game.
Nationwide, over a quarter of a million people rushed to play during two special sessions - a landmark moment for Gala Bingo - with several clubs across the country being forced to put full-house signs outside to manage demand.
Over 53 clubs had in excess of 1,000 people playing and five clubs each reported over 1,500 admissions. Members turned up in their droves to battle it out for free bingo prizes ranging from £500 to £4,000 in each club and the chance to win over £500,000 on Gala Bingo's cutting-edge High 5 game.
Much more than just a fad, this is the second time in two months that Gala Bingo clubs have experienced a surge in players hungry for the free games: February saw an astounding 136,000 people rush to Gala Bingo clubs across the UK in a matter of hours. Meanwhile, Mothering Sunday (22nd March) saw bumper admissions with nearly 27,000 people nationwide choosing to spend some quality time with mum over a game of bingo.
Simon Longbottom, Managing Director of Gala's Gaming Division, said: "We were delighted to see queues forming around some of our clubs. Bingo is a great British institution that thrives on community involvement. So to hear the buzz of a full club made customers and staff alike feel overjoyed."
