Less than a month after the change in stakes and prizes legislation, Gamestec has seen a significant increase in income on their machines.
Gamestec, the UK's largest operator of gaming machines in pubs, has seen income levels rises of around 13% since the introduction of the new machines.
The company believes it was the first to install and run a £70 prize machine in the UK and has installed more than 8,000 new £70 machines in around 4,000 locations, more than any other operator so far.
Managing Director Chris Butler said the results are encouraging: "We've invested our time, resources and staff to making sure the smooth roll out of the £70 prize machines and it is gratifying to see such strong results through in the first month.
"We set out to really create a buzz around the new stake and prize levels and not to cut any corners in our approach. To do this we set out a policy to change all machines on site for new £70 machines and we are using eye catching high quality point of sale materials to advertise the changes to customers. This approach whilst requiring significant investment and manpower is paying dividends. Other operators may have taken a more relaxed approach but cash box performance speaks for itself."
Over 20% of games are currently being played at the new £1 maximum stake with the average stake around 60p and this rise in average stake bodes well for sustained performance.
