For four weeks, Berlin welcomed football fans from all over the world – and for two days, Bally Wulff welcomed operators from all over Europe to experience the atmosphere of the World Cup.
In the vibrant centre of events, the Olympic Stadium, operators watched the final – a genuine football thriller with extra time and a penalty shootout. And after the game, the party continued at the Maritim Hotel – with everyone in a bouyant mood, enjoying a buffet dinner.
“It was a unique event,” said Hans Schorr, an operator from Weisendorf, who witnessed the dramatic scenes during the final at close range. He saw the Olympic Stadium immersed in a sea of red, white and blue at first – the colours of the Equipe Tricolore; and finally the triumph of the 5,000 Italian Tifosi, exuberantly celebrating the success of their Squadra Azzurra.
Bally Wulff offered finals tickets as part of a competition and among the winners were three Spanish operators from Costa Calida: Juan Nicolas Sanchez, Pedro Podeva and Joaquip Turpin. “Our Spanish customers were totally enthusiastic about the atmosphere and fan culture in Germany – and of course they were impressed by the absolutely unique character of the finals,” said Tim Wittenbecher, Bally Wulff international sales manager, who accompanied the guests during their World Cup programme.
“Even though Spain and Germany didn’t make it into the finals there won’t be an event like this again in this country for the next few decades. All winners were aware of that so they enjoyed every moment of this very special VIP event,” he added.
Bally Wulff’s co-operative partner Riccardo Maestrelli of Novarmatic (pictured with Tim Wittenbecher) experienced an unforgettably magnificent moment: the Italian distributor watched his team winning the World Cup, doing the lap of honour through the Olympic Stadium carrying the trophy.
His ticket for the final was acquired by Bally Wulff in a lightning operation: “When Italy qualified, we moved heaven and earth so that the distributor from Empoli could be there,” said Wittenbecher.
In the qualifying round, Bally Wulf held another party for Germany vs Equador. Operators Frank Braunwalder (service point Munich), Norbert Klein (Stuttgart), Johann Landstorfer, Hans-Peter Bolanz (Bruch-sal), Markus Seufert, Goswin Reichert (Mülheim), Burkhard Revers, Axel Schmidt and Bernd Middelhove (Hannover) already had the opportunity to enjoy the exclusive football atmosphere in Berlin. The VIP reception at the Grand Hotel Esplanade and the after-game party at the VIP tent at the stadium made this game a special event, too.
