On 8th September in the press room of Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper the agreement between the two organizations was announced. FC Barcelona is looking for new financial resources and to this end it has signed a sponsorship agreement with the British company Betfair, dedicated to betting over the Internet. The agreement includes publicity on fences and in various places around the Camp Nou, although at no time does it contemplate including the name of the English company on the team's dark red and blue shirts.
Another of the new features is the possibility, from now on, of finding on the club's own webpage (www.fcbarcelona.cat), data of interest relating to the forthcoming games of the different sections of FC Barcelona, as well as statistical data and user quotas, that is to say, the amount of money by which each person's bet is multiplied. Betfair will have the "rights to use the Barça image in its advertising campaigns" and, in return, it will pay between 1.5 million and 2 million euros a year. The duration of this agreement is between two and three years. According to sources close to the sporting organization, Betfair thus becomes a sponsor of the Catalan club, as it is already for organizations like Estrella Damm, La Caixa, Audi and Telefónica, among others. Up to a year ago FC Barcelona had a similar contract with Bwin, the name that Real Madrid now displays on its shirts.
