Following four years of negotiations, the Council of the Government of the Autonomous Region of Madrid has finally approved the Amusement Machines and Arcades regulation that will govern this gaming activity for the next few years. The incorporation of the special electronic bingo machine, or B3, is one of its more significant innovations and was the one that generated the greatest controversy in all the discussions that have taken place during these years.
Generically the arcades will be able to install a maximum of five B3 machines, whereas the Bingo halls can install up to a maximum of 30 units, depending on the surface area of the establishment. The publication of the Regulation was made to coincide in order that the text could become effective on 1st September which doubtless gives a breathing space to the organizers of the Spanish Amusement Fair in Madrid who, after hearing the news, have had to redesign the space to accommodate more participants who had waited until the last minute to decide whether to take part. This year the fair is particularly special given the generalized crisis situation prevailing in the country, which has seen a reduction in the turnover of the companies in the sector.
The FER2009 fair is organized by the Interazar Group which is also the owner of the magazine AZAR. On 1st September this magazine marked its 25 years in the market and is the longest established publication in the Spanish Gaming Sector press. Its appearance meant a profound change in the way in which information was reported to adapt its image to the style of the main international magazines of the time.
