There is a risk that the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy, to be celebrated in 2011, is going to be a quiet affair, with many projects approved by the previous government being cancelled because of the lack of funds. Consideration has been give therefore to creating a nice instant lottery, such as scratch cards.
A bill signed by 10 senators of the Popolo della libertà party (in government) and 2 of the Partito democratico (in opposition) proposes to establish a lottery, "whose proceeds will be set directly aside for the benefit of the Autonomous Administration of State Monopolies, to support and promote the celebrations of the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy", as stated in the report attached to the bill.
The bill is made up of one single Article, in which "profits of up to a maximum of €20 mn" are quoted. This is not a large amount, but in these times it is better than nothing.
