Sega Amusement Europe and Sega Amusement USA will be the first territories to exhibit Sega's new Sonic Allstars range. The designs with their white livery and blue stars along with the iconic Sonic character will first be available on an Air Hockey table and Basketball machine.
Whilst they will be under private showing at the JAMMA show they will get their pan European launch at the Fer-Interazar, ENADA and London Preview before being seen at IAAPA for the American market.
Sega's Justin Burke explained "There was a strategic desire to expand our product portfolio and we felt staple classics such as Air Hockey and Basketballs should be apart of it. But at the same time these particular products are in a crowded market and we wanted something that stood out".
The Sonic Sports Basketball features progressive game play, with each stage increasing in skill and fun, as well as tournament options, and is linkable up to 16 units. Sonic Sports Air Hockey has as standard under table lighting effects, chasing LED table lighting, polycarbonate non-scratch
play field and over head lighting each time a player scores. Both products have built-in redemption mechs that can be switched on or off by the operator.
Burke concluded that, "The bright clean white look with the attractive detail and Sonic character delivered us something that operators had been telling they wanted to see more off - firstly more of Sonic and the Sega brand but also product that looked a bit more contemporary. Some operators who have seen them want to create a mini ‘Sega branded' area based on these".
This is an exciting addition to the companies' portfolio which is tipped to continue expanding in new directions over the coming months.SEGA RELEASE ‘SONIC ALLSTARS' SPORTS RANGE
