In October, Italians spent 232.2 million euro on the virtual tables, which is 11.3% more than in September. This is a new record in takings, given that the previous one belonged to the previous month when takings amounted to 209 million euro. In the first 10 months of 2009 takings have exceeded 1,827 million euro, a value which if extrapolated to the end of the year means a market of more than 2.2 billion euro.
The gold medal, once again, goes to Microgame with takings of 67.9 million euro representing an increase of 29.1% over September. This is the largest increase ever recorded. Gioco Digitale consolidates its second position thanks to takings of 42.1 million euro representing an increase of 2.7%. In third place we find Pokerstars which in October collected 38.3 million euro, a 13% increase on the previous month. One should also mention the excellent figures from Leonardo Service Provider which, with takings of 8.2 million euro, has seen a growth of 22.4%.
In October Microgame alone had almost one third of the online poker market. Gioco Digitale is touching 20%. Between them these two operating companies have nearly 50% of the market, and if one includes PokerStars and Lottomatica, then these 4 operators have 76% of the entire market segment today.
