How come the SuperEnalotto jackpot has leapt to excessive levels again? Asking this question are the managers of the Osservatorio Antiplagio. In fact the jackpot for the next draw, which we recall will be held on Thursday 5th November, is officially confirmed as taking 3rd place in the classified list of the highest winnings ever in Italy and taking second place for the highest prize in the World. The Osservatorio Antiplagio points out that in order to understand the reason why the Superenalotto jackpot has risen to such excessive levels, it is interesting to observe the sequences in the recent draws.
As can be seen, it so happens that sequential numerical combinations of two or three numbers have come up systematically, for example: 67/70 - 43/49 - 4/10 or 27/28 - 88/90 - 26/29 or 50/54 - 51/58 or 74/77 - 41/49 or 61/63 - 4/8 or 72/74 - 21/23 or 31/33/37 - 81/83/84 and so forth, in all the previous competitions.
The reason for such “coincidences” is linked to the extraction system. The numbers in fact being picked up in sequential order by an air jet inside a machine: an air jet that, rather than shuffling the little balls properly, is limited to making blocks of ordered numbers float in the air. Since this is not a real randomising machine, the said concatenations are therefore obtained.
The Osservatorio Antiplagio therefore questions whether it would not be better to return to manual “fishing” or devise a different method that would guarantee the actual randomisation of the extraction.
All that in order to avoid astronomical jackpots that are having the effect of driving thousands of families to ruin and increasing serious forms of dependency.
In Italy more than 40% of players – who are divided into: occasional, expert and inveterate players – are compulsive gamblers.
Therefore, as well as celebrating record payouts and jackport fever, it is essential to promote awareness campaigns and to limit, if not to prohibit, publicity about lotteries and betting, captivating yet illusory and bad for children.
