Clarion ATE, organiser of London’s ATEI, ICE and ICEi, has made a number of key appointments in recent months.
Chris Boon becomes the new creative director, with a brief covering the entire 30,000 square metres (322,800sq ft) of space. He will focus on the 8,000 square metres (86,100sq ft) of space on Level 1 of Earls Court, which is being opened up in 2007 for suppliers of non-gambling equipment.
Clarion ATE chief executive Peter Rusbridge said: “Chris will be responsible for the creation of new bar and restaurant facilities as well as feature areas, business networking/meeting zones and the general ‘dressing’ of the show. As part of the commitment to our exhibitors, we will be assembling a team of external experts, of which Chris is the first to be announced.”
In addition, Clarion ATE confirmed two appointments within the operational division. Sophie Matthews becomes operations manager, while Paul Mills is drafted in as operations executive.
Matthews joined from the Clarion Events team in January this year to help with the 2006 show build-up and break-down. The 33-year-old has been involved with the operational side of Clarion, formerly P&O Events, since 1998, working on highprofile shows at Earls Court including PLASA (Professional Lighting and Sound Association), Fly (The London Airshow) and Smithfield (agricultural trade show), as well as the annual Show Jumping Championships at Olympia.
Mills has worked in a sales capacity for ATE since 2002, covering exhibitions and conferences including ICE/ICEi, The Betting Show and EiG. Stepping into a new role, the 28-year-old will use his experience and knowledge of the exhibition and its personalities while adding to his own career skill set.
Rusbridge commented: “It has never been more important that the shows are put together with logistical precision and close attention to detail. I am confident Sophie’s broad expertise combined with Paul’s good working knowledge of exhibitors’ needs will help to deliver a spectacular event.”
Finally, Clarion ATE continues to build its sales team with the appointment of Laura Mountford to the post of ATEI sales executive. Mountford, 23, a recent graduate of University College London, where she studied Spanish with Management, will work alongside sales manager Emma Green.
