Praesepe plc, the gaming group led by former BACTA National President Nick Harding, is set to complete its third acquisition in four months with the £6.3m (€6.7m/$9.9m) purchase of nine Adult Gaming Centres (AGCs) and four Family Entertainment Centres (FECs) from Case Concepts. All of the AGC sites will be re-branded under the Cashino marque. The FEC sites, which include Weston-Super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea and Ilfracombe, will continue to trade under their current brand names whilst they are assimilated into the Group.
Praesepe’s latest acquisition completes a number of landmarks for the company which celebrated its first anniversary in July. The acquired sites take the number of Praesepe-owned venues past the half century mark to 54, they expand the geographical reach into south west England and represent the organisation’s first involvement with the FEC sector.
Nick Harding, CEO of Praesepe, said: “Not only do the acquired sites complement our existing estate but the entry into the FEC sector represents another important phase in our development. From a personal perspective it is a case of returning to my roots: as a teenager I worked during the summer holidays for Michael Thomas in Hunstanton and in the early part of my professional career I had responsibility for the coin-op business at Butlins and Haven Warner. The family market is by definition more fragmented than the AGC business and requires different management skills, which I am confident we possess.
“In terms of equipment, our strategy is to have a sharp focus on redemption, the latest generation of which is making an impact similar to the early days of video game development.”
He added: “Reflecting on the overall health of the business, I am very pleased to be where we are, pleased to have such a strong management team in place and pleased to be fulfilling the business objectives that we set out just 12 months ago.”
