More than 100 UK pubs are now fully utilising ‘ticket out’ machine technology instigated by digital gaming supplier Games Media.
Pubs running the new payout system reportedly saw not only additional cashbox improvement comparable to the uplift seen from the recent increase in stake and prize levels but also clear operational and marketing advantages.
The ticket out solution replaces the traditional coin payout method by printing a ticket receipt once the player decides to collect their prize. The receipt is then handed over at the bar in exchange for cash.
Ticket payout systems are widely used in the UK and overseas at betting shops, casinos and adult gaming centres. Games Media is pioneering the application in pubs via its video amusement with prizes (VAWP) terminal Juice and skill with prize (SWP) terminal IND:E II.
The company plans to extend usage across its digital gaming estate, which totals around 2,500 terminals in a mixture of local community pubs, premium food sites, town centre venues and destination pubs operated by many of the industry’s leading leased, tenanted and managed pub companies.
It has already scheduled a programme of conversion which will see the number of installations increase by the end of this year, then an accelerated rollout in 2010 to ensure full deployment of ticket out technology.
