We would like to extend our best wishes and condolences to the family of Joaquín Franco Muñoz, co-founder of one of the largest global gaming companies, who died in Madrid last month, aged just 70.
Despite only having received a basic formal education, he went on to be one of the most important businessmen in Spain, along with his brother Jesús, founding the R. Franco, Codere and the Orenes Groups.
Like many of the industry greats, Joaquín Franco Muñoz started his business on a shoestring, maintaining and operating pinball machines in a small workshop on Hilarión Eslava street in Madrid. From there, he built an empire with his brother and became one of the industry’s largest employers. He will be sadly missed by his colleagues and friends from around the world.
