Chinese game threat
Published:  01 February, 2010

At the China (Zhongshan) International Gaming & Amusement Fair, vice chief of the Culture Market Department Zhang Xinjian, announced a new industrial policy, “Until April 30th 2010, the game machines that did not get through the review standard of the entertainment products, will be fully out of the market,” he said.

The industry operators expressed their concern, that the market will suffer massive short-term shock because, right now most of the machines that operated in the entertainment centers have not  adopted the review standard. If they all go out of the market, the numbers will be large, and if there is no other machine that can meet the needs of the market, the revenue of the centres will drop dramatically and some may even have to close. If this happens, the whole industry chain will also be implicated.

Right now, there are only 327 machines meeting the standard at the first formal review, but they alone could not meet the needs of the market.
